We are into our 3rd year of pledging continuously our commitment socially with another meaningful community work event. Our motto for this year is 'Care From Our Heart' which is an indicative that we continue to live by our corporate social mission and commitment to charity and community responsibility.
For this year programme, we organised a trip to the Singapore Discovery Centre for a group of 49 (children & guardians) from the 2 homes, namely :
- Sunbeam Place
- Pertapis Children Home
age ranges from 6 years to 16 years on the 11 June 2011 (Saturday).
A total number of 51 of us, from Sompo Japan Asia Holdings Pte. Ltd. and Sompo Japan Insurance (Singapore) Pte. Ltd., participated in this excursion. It was also Mr Keishi Nakamura, our newly appointed Managing Director's first community work in Singapore. We enjoyed as much fun as these children besides doing our contribution bit, in particular for those of us who have not been to the centre yet.
The children participated excitingly in most of the stimulating science experiment at the centre. Indeed, since the first community work launched in 2009, this round was the most engaging and interactive one as we were able to participate together with the children in these experiments.
The children were entertained to the movie "Kungfu Panda 2" in 3-dimensional effect to mark the finale of the day's programme. A small token was presented to the children at the end of the session.
Though we have to bid farewell to the children each time after the community work, our determination to be socially responsible grows stronger and deeper.
A kudos to all, in particular special thanks to our new Managing Director and the CSR & Events Committee for their effort and time in putting up and making this event a very successful one.
